I think this depot was on the KD Line (aka Kenosha Division) that entered Rockford from Loves Park. The depot on South Main Street was on the line running to Freeport. So likely there were two C&NW depots in Rockford on two separate lines of the Road.

I recently acquired a copy of the original building plans for this Depot. It was designed by Charles S. Frost and built 1911. The depot is located at 703 Seventh Street, Rockford, Illinois

I believe this depot is relatively new. The earlier C&NW depot was west of the river on South Main Street. It was elevated because the railroad crossed South Main Street on a bridge. I remember walking down the steps to get to the street. That depot was active until the C&NW discontinued passenger traffic in the 50s. I don't know when it was torn down. I'm guessing this depot was built to support freight traffic around the 70s. The C&NW Historical Society may be able to provide more information.
