A man my family knew, Hans Barker, was the REA Express Agent in this building from the early 1960's until his death in 1970. The Agency was located in the far left end of the building. I used to visit from Chicago on the Kate Shelly C&NW train until it quit running in the late 60's. There was a small diner across the street where the 30 MPH sign is where the men who worked at the depot used to go for coffee and lunch. From the track side of the depot you could watch the trains come across the Mississippi on the bridge. The center section of that bridge had to be turned to allow barges to pass beneath.
