I saw one (4/15/15) for the first time in 27 years in our little acre preserve about 15 miles west of West Palm Beach, FL. I, too, had to look it up.

Saw one of these flying about my yard (just north of Gainesville FL) on May 13, 2015. Beautiful and unusual.

I went outside to my garden this morning, & looked up to realize I had at least eight-ten just flying around on top of me/my garden area..I had to look them up, it was pretty cool. They are very pretty & unique. East Orlando, FL. zone 9

Ocala Florida. First one I've seen. Snapped picture because I wasn't sure what it was.

I am a Florida native and saw my first Carolina saddlebag dragonfly today. Was
excited to find your photo as it was difficult to describe accurately.
Love the website. Thanks.
