5-6 April 2008: Accompanied my friend Brad to do a practice walk before the official YHA Walk with him as the leader. On the first day, we climbed our way up the exhilarating Helicopter Spur where our rock climbing skills definitely stopped us plunging to our deaths... We reached Picture Point for lunch and were greeted with spectacular views of all major mountain ranges in the area. We bagged Mt Magdala before getting to our sheltered campsite near the heads of Hellfire Creek. Next day, we went to the summit of Mt Howitt, passed the Devils Staircase and looked down at the Terrible Hollow from the first bits of the Crosscut Saw. We got back to the car via Stanleys Name Spur and Upper Howqua Road. Another great walk!
