18-19 February 2006: Joined 8 others on a YHA weekend walk in the High Country. We started the hike from Falls Creek, going past Ruined Castle to reach Mount McKay. From there, we visited Pretty Valley Pondage and had a look at Tawonga Huts coming down the Fainter Fire Track. Camp was made near the base of Mount Fainter South after we crossed over Mount Niggerhead (1852m).
On Day 2, we bagged Mount Fainter South (1883m) and Mount Fainter North (1830m) early in the morning. Stunning views in all directions as the weather was very clear. We bush bashed our way down Mount Fainter South to reach Bogong Jack Saddle where we had lunch. It was then a slow 2-hour walk to Bogong Village, which is the end of this very enjoyable walk.
