On 27 August 2005, I joined the YHA Bushwalking Club on a snow walk trip to the summit of Mt Buller via the West Ridge. It was a lovely day with clear blue sky ideal for hiking and photography. There were 9 of us in total and we started our walk from Forest Creek Headwater and headed up the steep West Ridge to the summit of Mt Buller. We then walked down the McLaughlin Spur/Track back to Mt Buller Road.
It was quite an exciting trip with snow walking near the summit and there was a short but very very steep section requiring the careful use of crampons and ice axe. Definitely one of the best walks in 2005.
