Easter Rescue

Driving down to the beach we saw an ambulance.
Half an hour later we saw a man being stretchered off the beach with a suspected spinal injury.
The professionalism of the paramedics and volunteer lifesavers is to be applauded.
The gentleman is expected to make a recovery after treatment and rehab.
The surf club asked for copies of this shot for their presentation evenings.

Dear Hal, Pete and Michael,
Thank you so much for your kind comments. The club has now used this shot on their main facebook page. A tribute to their wonderful efforts.

An all- too- familiar scene to me. Great journalistic shot. Hoe people take notice!

Heros all of them, and incredible patience for all those hours of just watching

Thanks for you kind words. I had mixed feelings about taking the shot at the time but I was quite some distance away and using my 300ml lens so I didn't think I was intruding. When I mentioned that I had taken the photograph to the club captain he said he would like to show the junior members what a great just b they has done, especially as it was the Easter weekend and they had given up their time.

A very well done and sobering image, Elaine. What a great image for the surf club to honor their volunteers.
