Dear Michael, You can be assured that these little blue devils have a nasty sting and can cause intense pain for some time. Until recently their stings were treated with vinegar but the latest thinking is hot water. We know not to swim when they fly a blue flag at the beach. Thank you for the comments and Happy New Year. They look like cousins of our "Portuguese Man-of-War", without the net of tentacles, Elaine. Those guys are seriously bad new, having a toxin causing intense pain, and occasionally, death. I don't see those, but would stay away from this specimen for certain...
