These sparrows are regular in the Bay Area in small numbers on upper slopes of the higher peaks, but they aren't easy to see. This male was one of a pair found near the entrance to the trail up Bald Mountain, Spring 2007. More pictures of the pair are at http://www.pbase.com/tgrey/sparrows_blackchinned .
