NGC 2237/46, Rosette Nebula

Cootamundra, NSW

The bright, scattered cluster, NGC 2244 is surrounded by the large nebula, NGC 2237/46 or the Rosette, alternative name, SHh 2-275. This band is some 20 to 30 arc minutes wide and partly obscures the fainter background stars, the whole ring is some 90 arc minutes across and is part of the large Monoceros molecular cloud.
