M 41 or NGC 2287 is a fine Open Cluster within Canis Major, this cluster is some 39 arc minutes wide and shines at a magnitude of 5.00 at a distance of around 2300 Light Years. It appears some 4 degrees south of the bright star, Sirius and is faintly visible to the naked eye. Also known as Collinder 118, Melotte 52, Raab 40 or OCL 597.
