Bruges is a surprising gem of a town. It has retained most its medieval charm with cobbled streets, canals and architecture. It's often overlooked as a destination as most visitors are passing though Brussels on the way to Paris or Amsterdam. However it is worth a one-day diversion from Brussels (about an hour by train)
