A photography workshop held near Barstow, California
showed 20 photographers just how an area can be nearly
abandoned and forgotten, yet still retain the magic of it's time.

Love the pictures around Amboy Carol. When I was a young man I worked at a salt mine run by Leslie Salt where the National Chloride Company has their ponds today. It was an interesting place to spend two of my summers. Thanks for taking me back to that area!

A nice gallery with many interesting photos. I have seen many photos on "Route 66" in PBase. Seems to be a historic route with many 'ghost towns' from the past? I spent a month free-wheeling in the west coast of US and Canada many years back in 1992, but missed this place. Where is it located? Rgds.

Beautiful images! And unique - I see your own vision here. Being on this trip myself, I'm really impressed at what different and personal compositions you have created. My favorites are "Window Seat", "Strangers Portrait", and especially "order's up". Who'd have thought that a plate of ham 'n eggs could convey such quiet beauty?

I have been waiting to see what you saw on our recent workshop and am wonderfully satisfied. You create great images. What strikes me about so many of these pictures is how you use relationships - the moon in relationship to weeds - clouds to crosses - monsters to telephone poles, and on and on. A great gallery, thanks.

These are exquisite, Carol -- that's the only word that does them justice. You have truly conveyed the essence of Route 66 with your very special style: lean design, glowing color, eloquent texture, incongruous relationships, and intense human values.
