What A Great Shot! I love rusting objects, you wouldn't think that an object in a state of decay could hold such beauty, but with the help of warm sunlight, it brings the object to life with amazing colours and textures. Nice Composition and an adapt title.

Once again, you and I work the same subject in very similar ways. I consider it an honor that you and I share the same sensibilities because you have spent a lifetime working in design, while my sense of design is purely intuitive. My image athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/56186752 takes advantage of the same light and ironies as yours -- we both make beauty of ugliiness, life out of death, and use texture and color to do it. The difference comes in framing -- I am a bit further back, so I can include more folded metal at the upper left, more of a sweeping curve at lower left, and the entire curve on the right hand edge. Yet each of these images, as Tim said in his comment to me, has the potential to touch the heart by depicting something that has died yet led a productive life. He was referring not just to this boiler, but to the age of steam itself.

I find myself enjoying the fact that this looks like an ear in metal - but I also respond in a different way to this image - Who knew metal could be so supple, and so beautiful in its decay. Your light accentuates the flow of the metal back to the earth - It is almost like melting lava.
