Jacquard Hat With Flower For 15"-16" Baby Doll

Yarn used is Bernat's Baby Jacquards in Boo Berries.
Hat:
Materials for hat as pictured: Bernat Baby Jacquards yarn, Boo Berries; US #2 double-pointed needles, US #4 double-pointed needles.

Using Baby Jacquards yarn and #4 needle, cast on 72 sts.
Divide evenly on three #2 double-pointed needles (24 sts/needle).
Work K2, P2 for 1” for ribbing.
Change to #4 needles; knit around until cap measures 2 5/8” from cast on.
Next round: SSK at beginning of each needle.
Repeat last row until 18 sts remain on each needle.
Next round: SSK at beg of needle, k7, SSK, knit to end of needle. Repeat on each needle.
Next round: SSK at beg of needle, k6, SSK, knit to end of needle. Repeat on each needle.
Continue decreasing in this manner until only 2 sts remain on each needle.
Pull yarn through remaining 6 sts and draw tight. Weave end in.
Add a crocheted or knitted flower to front side if desired.
Terms used:
K = knit
P = purl
CO = cast on
tog = together
SSK = slip as to knit, slip as to knit, knit those 2 sts tog. through the back loop


Note: The flower on the hat pictured is a crocheted flower but there are instructions for knitted flowers on YouTube that would work just as well.
For crocheted flower pictured, use a G crochet hook.
Ch 6. Join with sl st in first chain to form a circle. Continue as follows…

Ch 4 (first “spoke” created)
*Work 1 sc through center of ring, ch 2* (second spoke created).
Repeat between asterisks 6 more times, creating 8 spokes in all.
Sl st in 2nd chain of first spoke to join, ch1.

Round 2 (first row of 5 petals):
Working in hole between first two spokes, *ch1, sc, ch1, 2dc in same space, ch1, sc in same space*. (first petal created)
Move to hole between next two spokes and repeat between asterisks for second petal.
Repeat petal pattern in 5 of the 8 holes, randomly skipping 3 holes for this first round of petals. Join with sl st in 1st sc.
Ch 1, then turn work so back side of flower is facing you.

Next round (working on back of flower):
Sl st under 1st spoke, ch5.
*DC under next spoke, ch 2*
Repeat between asterisks under each of remaining spokes.
Sl st in 3rd chain of first spoke, ch1. Turn flower to now work on front.

Next round (working with front of flower facing you):
*Sc in space between first two spokes, ch1, 3dc, ch1, sc.*
Repeat between asterisks in each of the 8 loops, creating 8 petals in this round.
Sl st in 1st sc of 1st petal.
Ch1, turn work.

Next round (working on back of flower):
Sl st under 1st spoke, ch6.
*DC under next spoke, ch 3*
Repeat between asterisks under each of remaining spokes.
Sl st in 3rd chain of first spoke, ch1. Turn flower to now work on front.

Next round (working with front of flower facing you):
*Sc in space between first two spokes, ch1, 4dc, ch1, sc.*
Repeat between asterisks in each of the 8 loops, creating 8 petals in this round.
Sl st in 1st sc of 1st petal.
Tie off, leaving long enough ends of yarn to use for sewing flower to hat.
