Pink Jacquard Sweater And Bonnet For 15"-16" Baby Doll

Original pattern fits 15"-16" baby doll and
is as follows:

Materials for cardigan as pictured: Bernat Baby Jacquards yarn, one 3.5 oz ball in color Rosebud; 24” US #4 circular knitting needle (or size needed to obtain stitch gauge).

Gauge: 5 1/2 sts = 1”

Cardigan:

Beginning at neckline with Baby Jacquards yarn and #4 circular needle, cast on 60 sts.
Rows 1-2: Knit.
Row 3 (placing markers): K4, p7, pm#1, p10, pm#2, p 18, pm#3, p10, pm#4, p 7, k4.
Row 4: Knit across, increasing before and after each marker = 8 increases.
Row 5: K2, YO, K2tog (for buttonhole), purl to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 6: Knit across, increasing before and after each marker = 8 increases.
Row 7: K4, purl to last 4 sts, k4.
Repeat last two rows 8 times, or until piece measures 3” from neck edge.
Next row (right side facing): Repeat row 6 to last 4 sts, K2 tog, YO, K2 (for second buttonhole).
Next row: K4, purl to last 4 sts, k4.
Forming Left Sleeve: Next row (right side): Knit to marker #2. Turn.
Next row: Purl back to marker #1. Turn.
Next row: Knit to marker #2. Turn.
Repeat last 2 rows until sleeve measures 1” from underarm.
Decrease row (right side): K2tog, knit across sleeve, ending k2tog. Turn.
Continue working sleeve in stockinet stitch until 2” from underarm.
Second decrease row (right side facing): K2tog, knit across sleeve, ending k2tog. Turn.
Purl across next row.
Work remaining sleeve sts in K1, P1 ribbing for 5 rows.
Bind off loosely in ribbing, leaving a 12” tail of yarn (to use for sewing sleeve seam later).
Next row (right side facing): Join yarn at left underarm and knit across back sts to marker #3, then across right sleeve sts to marker #4. Turn.
Forming Right Sleeve: Continue to work in stockinet st between Marker #3 and Marker #4 for 1”.
Decrease row (right side facing): K2tog, knit across sleeve, ending k2tog. Turn.
Continue working sleeve in stockinet stitch until 2” from underarm.
Second decrease row (right side facing): K2tog, knit across sleeve, ending k2tog. Turn.
Purl across next row.
Work remaining sleeve sts in K1, P1 ribbing for 5 rows.
Bind off loosely in ribbing, leaving a 12” tail of yarn (to use for sewing sleeve seam later).
Next row (right side facing): Join yarn at right underarm and knit across right front sts. Turn.
Next row (On this row, remove markers as you go): K4, purl across right front sts, then back sts, then left front sts, to last 4 sts, K4. Turn. From her on, you are now working all sts remaining on your needle as one continuous row.
Continue to work in stockinet st, maintaining the K4 border at each end of row, until sweater is correct length for third buttonhole (measure distance or count rows between first two buttonholes to determine).
Buttonhole row (right side facing): Knit to last 4 sts, K2 tog, YO, K2.
Work 4 more rows of stockinet st., making sure to knit first and last 4 sts of each row for button band.
If ribbed bottom edge is desired...
Work K1, P1 ribbing for 5 rows. Bind off loosely in ribbing.
or...
If “picot” bottom edge is desired...
work next row as follows (right side facing): K4, *(YO, K2tog), repeat from * to last 4 sts, K4.
Next row: K4, purl to last 4 sts., K4.
Next row: Knit across row.
Repeat last two rows one more time.
Bind off loosely in ribbing.
Turn up bottom edge to inside at the YO row to form “picot” edge; stitch in place with yarn, forming a hem.
Sew seam on underside of sleeves.
Weave in any loose ends of yarn.
Block lightly
Sew three buttons on left front band, using buttonholes in right band as spacing guide.

Bonnet:
Pattern is as follows:
Beginning at brim with Baby Jacquards yarn and size US #4 needle, cast on 64 sts.
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: K1, *YO, K2tog. Repeat from * across row, ending K1
Continue in stockinet stitch until piece measures 3” from yarn over row, ending with purl row. Place marker at end of row.
Work decrease for crown as follows…
K1 *(YO, K2tog, SSK K4) Repeat from, ending K3. 56 sts
Next row: Purl
Next row: K1 *(YO, K2tog, SSK K3) Repeat from, ending K2. 48 sts
Next row: Purl
Next row: K1 *(YO, K2tog, SSK K2) Repeat from, ending K2. 40 sts
Next row: Purl
Next row: K1 *(YO, K2tog, SSK K1) Repeat from, ending SSK. 32 sts
Next row: Purl
Next row: (K1, K2tog) across, ending K1. 17 sts
Next row: K2tog across. 9 sts
Pull yarn through remaining 9 sts.
Sew back seam, from marker to center of crown.
Fold under front edge of cap at YO row, forming hem; stitch in place.
Thread a ribbon through the pocket created on the front edge of the bonnet,
creating ties for bonnet.
Tack ribbon in place at top center to keep if from pulling out
and for safety when giving to a small child.
