Good question, Photocat! Well, I am treating this image as a " New year Greeting Card ", with abstract fower pattern and the card border. Even the title "Happy New Year" supports my idealogy ... and you will agree that somthing connected with beginning of a (New)Year certainly meets this theme. At the end, I thank you for your comments!

I really like this photo, but I'm having trouble connecting it to the theme of 'Beginnings'. Please enlighten me so I can change my vote!

Zahid, I really like the design you achieved with this photo...the coloring is a beautiful touch. The black background works very well here too. Artistic and well done. MFC

Very pretty indeed, the colors are so soft, the image has an overall calming affect. Very well done.

Thanks Deb Kees, mlynn and Franky for appreciating the image. Well about the technique involved in achieving this image, First Luckly I got Flowery shape out of smoke exposures - The smoke was back lit with a black background. Second step was to make a layer, apply multi colour gradient fill (tried it with a couple of different graidients until I was happy with the present tones of colours) and applied Mulitiply in blending mode. The layers were merged and thats it - the result is in front of you. Cheers and Happy New Year!

Wow! This is great. Should I now start smoking in the New Year? ;-)

Well, this is simply stunning and gorgeous! How did you get those colors, were they added in post-processing? I think this is something I'm going to have to try one of these days. Beautiful! --Melanie
