In the early days, this was the first flower to appear through the snow on the Alberta and Saskatchewan prairies. Few are left in the wild, now, although if you know where to look you can find them. Our local botanical gardens, however, keep a field where they do come up as they used to. This shot required very carefully crawling, so as not to damage other plants growing nearby. Cropped only; shot in shutter priority due to awkard position, even with IS!
