The vine on my neighbor's garage was stunning only last week but has lost almost all its leaves. A remnant of a spectacular fall in Washington.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments! Simon, I too found the challenge particularly difficult. Almost nothing interested me in photographing -- things just seemed too mundane, and I simply didn't have the time or energy to stage a shot. But then yesterday, when I was still feeling really unhappy with one of my other entries, I happened to see this vine and decided to give it a try, which proved difficult due to the almost full zoom handheld. I was so unsure of it I held off entering it until my husband came home and gave me an opinion, but now I'm happy I did :-).

Hiya Helen. I really struggled with this Challenge yet you've made it look easy. Beautifully contrasted subjects (and congrats on sticking with the theme). Rich textures. The wall offsets the vine and leaves well drawing the eye to spend more time exploring the depths in those reds.

Really nice textural feel and the colouring really enhances that. A well chosen detail from the greater whole . . Nice composition!..irish_eye

Simple and well seen, Helen. I really like how this vine travels across the textured surface. Nice color. lighting, and composition here. There's still a lot of beauty in that vine, especially the way you capture and present it. Good idea, helen...nice shot. MFC
