Thanks for the comments. The pattern is the underside of a fluorescent light fixture. I saw the fly land there and the idea hit me, so I photographed and he/she lived (escaped). The shot is rotated 180 degrees and I had a blast making it. I'm also happy that the title helps convey the meaning of the pattern :) -- Chris

Very nice fly macro, Chris. Well composed, good lighting, and effective DOF...your placement of the fly within the frame is just right. I especially like the repeating pattern of the background...and how much it mimics the microscopic appearance of the eye. It's like having "a fly in the eye" :) Well done. MFC

Wonderful color and detail in the fly, Chris - and your title is perfect considering that your background looks something like the lens of an insect's eye. I really like the background; what is it? Nicely done, Chris Bev

Boy, oh boy, Chris! I wish I would have been able to get this fellow for my baseball shot. Wonderful detail and DOF.---Deb

This is wild and wonderful. The fly is right ON and the bg is neat with its magnifying pull. YEP!
