2/26/2005 Tristan Panek

State change*
by Tristan Panek

Claymont, DE

A leftover outside the bathroom window. I thought it would be neat to get not only the liquid, but solid and gas as well. Linear polarizer and Sunpak 383 used.

Beautiful capture of this melting icicle, and I really like the soft two-toned sky background. --mlynn

Tristan, Beautiful and clean composition..great coloring..I REally like the 'center stage' dive of the icicle which appears like a bird ..It seems to be moving down the stratos melting as it goes..Love the drop..perfect...Irish

Well composed, Tristan...I really like how the OOF sky "halves" break the clear, pendulous icicle along a diagonal. You captured the feeling that the "solid state" is slowly disappearing one drop at a time. Simple and effective...with nice color and light too. Good idea, Tristan...well taken. (*)I would NOT change a single thing in this very nice photo...but, if you're up for another type of fun challenge, I wonder how many tries it would take to capture that drop falling in the air? MFC
