This is a small pazar set up under the inner walls of old Ankara. The outer walls date from the ninth century A.D., when they were constructed by Byzantine Emperor Michael II. The inner walls date from the seventh century A.D.

Helen....Beautiful capture of a "piece of history" or should I say a "Moment in History"? I like how you have captured all the textures of the stones and varied colors/tones of them. This is a stone wall with "Character". Very interesting looking at what's left of anchient sculptures on the wall and the -pazar- gives it nice contrast from then to now. Bill B
