Cobble Stones
by Helen Betts
Taken on Can Sokagi in Samanpazari, an old part of the city that is popular with tourists due to its many antique and carpet dealers. The tourists have pretty much cleared out, and the street is full of merchants and residents getting ready for iftar, or the breaking of the Ramazan fast at sunset. Normally, Can Sokagi is crammed with people and cars (the traffic jams are frightening), but on the first Sunday of every month the street is closed to motor vehicles for a sidewalk bazaar.
