Neon Palm
by Helen Betts

Ginowan City, Okinawa

Best when viewed in original size as the compression is a bit strange in medium.

This is actually a light that's the size of a real palm tree. I plan to go back at night to get a shot (when the restaurant is closed, since I think they are a bit sick of seeing me hanging around their parking lot!).

Sony DSC-F717
1/100s f/6.3 at 11.4mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

I'll have to go back to the store that sells these things and take pictures for you and Dee! Get your orders in early! In all honesty, they are kind of fun, but my husband would also disown me. We often have to hold very large parties at our house, and he'd be mortified if any of our guests actually saw one in our back yard :-). Helen

Very nice perspective and sharpness to it. I must be strange, (actually, it's been said I have a "Warped Sense of Humor"), but I'd kinda like one in my yard here in NY. Have a felling my wife would kick me out :-(

Really nice framing and choice of subject!

You surely see and photograph the most unusual things! From multi-colored fish to a light in the shape of a palm tree! I want one! LOL! This is so cool! Now can I have some flamingo lights to go under it? LOL.... Dee

Very cool image, I just hope they don't start sprouting up here in Hawaii :)

Yeah, I thought it was pretty funny when I first saw it, but I found a place that sells them -- in all colors and sizes. As I said, they light up (very brilliantly) and are quite spectacular at night. Something that no house should be without, LOL! Helen

Ann is right, Helen. It's been one of my "laughs of the day", too. Nice perspective, color, and contrast. Bev

Who could imagine a giant plastic palm tree? Makes me laugh just to look at it. Excellent picture Helen.

Really nice design and color contrast created by this view, Helen. Unusual subject too. MFC
