The T-33 pace plane with Steve Hinton at the controls leads a procession of very fast, very expensive, very loud taildraggers out to the runway. Only Dago Red, the P-51, has a water-cooled inline engine; the others are all radial powered, and air cooled. There's a lot of waste heat to dissipate, with Gold racers each generating roughly 4000 horsepower at full race power.
