The weather terminal in the pilot's lounge is not encouraging: a deep trough has sagged down from Canada and several lines of thunderstorms cross our intended route of flight to Bryce, Utah. The strongest of these squall lines, with tops above 50,000', is about to overrun the airport. A FedEx short-haul pilot lands after a flight from Albuquerque and paints us an equally grim picture. We read, snooze and check the radar display every few minutes.
