Steve knows the roads and the terrain pretty well, having driven over the same route just a couple of months before; he does the flying while Stuart carefully matches every jog in the road with its depiction on the sectional chart. We can see the ground only a minute or so ahead even at this low altitude, and it would never do to take a wrong turn and fly up some dead-end box canyon.
