This pic shows the later style holder:

...it locates the pump and holds it up using the band that is part of the pump's metal casing

...but it also has some fingers around the bottom that can hold and support a pump that does not have the band in the casing.

These little fingers will be very helpful in locating and supporting the 740T pump.
