Coyote Breakfast : Death Valley

Death Valley National Park

I saw a single Coyote on this trip and you will get to see three of the images. I was able to watch her for about 5 minutes before she blended into the deep desert of Death Valley. I was unwilling to go that far out. Taken shortly after sunrise (about 10-20 minutes), she is bathed in the warm glow of the morning sun. She seemed to be hunting voles and was in the process of eating them right down. Yummy.

As I understand it, seeing predator wildlife in Death Valley is somewhat rare because they are mostly nocturnal and tend to stay away from Human trails. At least that is what the signs at the visitor center indicated:-)

Pretty girl. I've seen a coyote in Yosemite and was instantly sold. They're much like our foxes in their ability to seek out foodsources, very clever and resourceful animals.
