Wanda06_03_04b.jpg

Well sometimes the magic works and sometimes the magic doesn't. I think tonight was one of those times it didn't work. Because of no trespassing signs and a Wildlife refuge being closed due to heavy metal contamination we couldn't take the picture planned.(I'll work on a location for that photo) So we ended up photographing by a couple of old buildings that looked interesting.

This old gas station had some character and was facing well for the late afternoon/evening light. The other building just didn't work out. So here it is for today. A shot I feel just luke warm about. There is another in the Various Glamour Gallery it seems a little cheesy and too forced in the pose...which is all my fault for bad direction http://www.pbase.com/image/29734399

That old Dino / Sinclair gas pump would be worth a fortune to someone that collects and restores such things! I'll bet a twenty dollar bill it isn't there these almost ten years later since this image was taken! Someone would have scarfed it up long ago! That warm golden light really "makes" this image as a winner! Good job!

When we went out looking for the shot for this day Bill had tried to find a remote area for Me to pose so I wouldn't be nervous due to onlookers. I had told him how the neighborhood kids from the day before were really distracting and I am always a bit embarrassed when people stop to watch our shoot. As mentioned above in Bill's comment, we couldn't get to the location he had originally hoped for, so we decided on this old abandoned gas station in a small community that is just one gasp away from being a ghost town. Seriously, you are lucky to see another car when you drive through this area ,but not today! The locals must be really desperate for entertainment because all it took was one truck to drive by and spot Bill with his tripod and camera pointed My direction and all of sudden the intersection we were set up became grand central station! Some cars were actually driving by, turning around and then driving by again and again and again. Talk about nerve racking! So was it any wonder Bill couldn't get a pose out of Me that was more "post worthy"?

Good try. The location is well chosen. I believe the problem is the pose your model is making. It's not the right pose for this location. She didn't get into the situation. She's too cute. A more powerful look and a down-to-earth-don't-you-dare-touch-me body language might have done it.

Thank goodness the comments by God's less fortunate creatures have been removed.
All your photos are wonderful so far. The area you live in looks fantastic...and a wife with a great sense of humor and loads of patience... Others have said, but I'll say it again...you're a lucky man.

This is a beautiful shot! The setting is amazing ... and the quality of light is perfect in the retro context. NICE!

The last week or so has seen some wonderful settings for some really good photo's. No offence to the earlier shots that were great - but it has taken off now - and what will they be like come winter !!. Keep up the good work Wm
