German title Chassis n° 911 030 1007 - The ultimate Porsche 911 - Top quality restoration - Eligible for prestigious events The racing 911 S (known as the ST) differed from the standard S in many ways; thin gauge sheet metal was used for the roof, the rear side-panels and the rear seat-pan. Seat slides, seat-belt anchor points, heater ducts, ashtray, glove-box lid, tubes for the front and rear release cables, door and bumper trim strips, front and rear lid locks, fog-light recess covers, front torsion bar protectors and even the passenger sun visor were all removed. Further efforts to keep the weight down included leaving the sheet metal joints unfinished, eliminating the undercoat and keeping the final paint layer as thin as possible. The front end of the car was stiffened with the addition of a strut brace under the front bonnet. A special 80 or 110 litre fuel tank was fitted which could be centre-filled through an aperture in the front bonnet. There was an aluminium roll-bar, 7 and 9 inch minilite wheels and the rear wheel arches were flared to accommodate the wider rear tyres. Plexiglass was used everywhere apart from the windscreen which had thinner glass, there were two Recaro racing seats and optionial extras included knee protection padding, rubber straps for front and rear lid and a 15-inch space-saver spare tyre. The cylinders of the track version of the ST were bored to 2381 cc producing around 240 bhp. The crankcase was diecast in magnesium alloy, the cylinders had Chromal-plated bores and the cylinder heads were of aluminium alloy. The crankshaft ran in 8 bearings and thin shell bearings were used for both main bearings and big ends. It was dry sump fed. Injection was by Bosch twin-row, six-plunger mechanical injection pump and Bosch also supplied the twin-injection system. The gearbox was the 5-speed 901, which is what is fitted on this car. This particular car had the M 220 limited slip diff fitted from new.

Chassis 1007, the 6th of the 43 "Rallye" ST lightweights built and weighing 930 kg, according to the factory records, was delivered on the 19th of February 1970 one week late in fact, to its first owner, Firma Radio Grüner from Stuttgart. At 23,000 km the car was acquired by its second owner, the privateer racer Wilfried Schmitz. Living in Berlin at this time, he was limited to racing on the AVUS ring and competing in local rallies which he did regularly between 1973 and 1974. In 2006 the car was restored and stripped down, revealing all the special features of the ST, including welding points specific to the ST. The engine was replaced using original ST parts fitted by Manfred Rugen. The total for work to the engine came to 150,000 euros. The Production number 100 2292 is the original one and the chassis has recently been verified by marque expert Jürgen Barth. The car retains the original Recaro racing seats as well as the original Minilite racing wheels, and the footrest that is special to the ST. The original roll-bar comes with the car. The car is liveried in its original colour, with the same factory code, and applied sparingly using the same technique Porsche used originally to keep the weight down. The fuel tank comes from another S/T, the official press car as is written on the tank. The owners are all known, and include none other than legendary racing driver Walter Röhrl who owned the car between 2009 and 2011. He was responsible for getting FIA papers for the car, which subsequently competed in the 2013 Nürburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix. If the new owner wishes to take part in historic racing, the FIA papers will need to be renewed. La voiture est dépourvue de coulisses de sièges, points d'ancrage de ceintures de sécurité, conduites de chauffage, cendrier, couvercle de boîte à gants, baguettes de protection de portes et de pare-chocs, protection de barre de torsion et même pare-soleil passager. La recherche de réduction de poids passe même par l'élimination d'une sous-couche d'apprêt et la présence d'une couche de peinture aussi fine que possible. L'avant de la voiture est renforcé avec une barre anti-rapprochement. La voiture reçoit un réservoir de carburant spécial de 80 ou 110 litres qui peut être rempli par une goulotte placée au centre du capot avant. Elle comporte un arceau en aluminium et des jantes Minilite de 7 et 9 pouces, les ailes recevant une extension pour accommoder les pneus plus larges. Les vitres et la lunette arrière sont en Plexiglas, le pare-brise étant en verre plus fin. Deux sièges Recaro prennent place dans l'habitacle et quelques options proposent un rembourrage de protection des genoux, des lanières de retenue du capot avant et une "galette" 15 pouces comme roue de secours. La cylindrée de la version compétition s'élève à 2 381 cm3 par augmentation de l'alésage et le moteur développe 240 ch. Le vilebrequin est en magnésium, les cylindres comportent des chemises au chrome et les culasse sont en alliage d'aluminium. Le vilebrequin tourne sur huit paliers minces et le graissage se fait par carter sec. Le système d'injection mécanique est fourni par Bosch. La boîte de vitesses est la cinq rapports de la 901, et c'est celle qui équipe cette voiture. Elle est dotée également depuis l'origine d'un différentiel autobloquant M 220.
