IROC / Carmen Red - Chassis 911.460.0116

...Interesting to note how Mr. Victor O'Farrill of Mexico City bought this IROC in 1974 and later coverted it into a slope-nose in the '80s. Why would anyone do that?! :(

Is this the correct photo for the "Carmen Red" IROC series 911? Will the current owner please confirm and possibly provide addtional photos? It will be a much welcome contribution. Thanks!

Hello,

This RSR original color was dark purple before VIP did the slant nose. The work was done in 1984-1985.

Here is a picture or this car on the front cover of VW Porsche Magazine.

I was very lucky to have helped work on this car for Mr. O'Farrill in Riverside California. We (Techtonics Tuning, Darrell Vittone) rebuilt the engine and put it back together after VIP body shop did the slant nose. I drove it once it was very fast!!! In Mexico Mr. O'Farrill's mechanic "Zigy" installed flat side throttle bodies.

I own this car in Mexico, I bought it from Victor Hugo and return it to it's original condition, I found the very same fenders 25 years after they replaced them, it's a story that worth to tell. I still regret selling this car and is something I don't think I will ever do, but at that time I have to. I sold the car to a collector in Europe through a broker and as far as I know it was return to it's original paint (not this red). The car was in pretty good shape, just forgotten by the years and I turn it into a excellent shape car when I sold it, I install original RSR wheels and of course the fenders, that have to paint them red to match the car.

The car has only 10,231 kilometers when I bought it and I sold it with 10,586. I have the car for over a year and as a Porsche lover, racer, enthusiast and restorer I can tell this is one of the best examples of what a Porsche means.

I will love to have some pictures of the car from any era and if someone might have one of it's present condition because I didn't get to know the buyer, it will really make my day.

This car was indeed the Aubergine. Sold in Mexico City, then the owner was able to locate the original front fenders and then the car was sold to Europe in 2000 - 2001 timeframe.

According to my records Victor Hugo O' Farril from Mexico City did purchase the Carmen Red car 9114600116 - You are correct

The Photo on your web site taken at Rennsport ll with Fidapaldi on it is my car now Peru Red Chassis # 9114600050 I did purchase it from Stoddard Imported Cars in 1974 while I was working for Chuck as service manager Porsche Audi . The color was originally Aubergine. This is the car Peter Revson finished 2nd at Daytona behind Mark Donahue

A.J. Foyt drove it Race 1 at Riverside & finished 6 th
Richard Petty drove it Race 2 at Riverside & finished 10 th
Emerson Fidapaldi dove it Race 3 & finished 3rd after starting 10 th

Peter Revson at Daytona final Race finished 2 nd behind Mark Donahue

I'm attaching a few photos you might be interested in - I'll send in a couple of emails becuse one might be too large

Hello Bob and thank you for your post. So the information I was given that Mr. O'Farrill of Mexico purchased this IROC in 1974 is totally incorrect? If so, then please confirm so that I can update the website. I certainly don't want to be posting any errors here. BTW, what about this photohttp://www.pbase.com/slidevalve911rsr/image/74877483 and details, is this also not true?

The IROC RSR with Fittipaldi is my car I purchased it after the Daytona Race- Chassis # 911 4600050 - IROC.engine # 6840028 The car was origanally Aubergine - it now is PERU RED
Driven at Riverside Race # 1 by AJ Foyt -Race # 2 by Richard Petty Race # 3
by Emerson Fidapaldi The Final Race at Daytona Peter Revson drove it car # 2 and Finished Second behind Mark Donohue
