I never knew that monkey bars were actually "pipe frame exercise units" (according to the plaque above). Therefore, I guess the tunnels we played in were probably "concrete sewage transportation units." Who remembers Thelonius Monk pacing back and forth in the old playground? He'd be by the benches between the "big swings" and the stick ball/roller skate hockey/touch football area, with the basket ball court closer to Phipps houses. He would sometimes wear a colorful hat with ear flaps and, from our window, appear to be talking animatedly, gesticulating with his arms.
