My favorite photos (which I have a hard time finding) are visually interesting pictures of people with eye-catching, unique features in natural-looking poses/environments. No, I don't ask. Having a large tele (Canon 300) helps and I smile a lot! Being a female also helps. I never stalk "subjects". I let them come to me as I sit at Circular Quay here in Sydney.

Hello Sheila, Have a quick question. Do you ask these 'subjects' for permission before or after taking thier shot? I've dont this type of photography before and get dark looks from people. What are your thoughts on the matter?? Dave p.s. They all look great!

Sheila, I have been here and admired your pages several times before, beacuse I think your work is adorable. But on Sunday I took my first batch of candids and galleries such as yours have really been an inspiration to me, so thanks! Very nice shots!!! I have never been a people shooter but I may give it a try after seeing your images. I am surprised that you use the 300f4 IS for candid shots. Doesn't white lens draw too much attention? BTW, I just got the 300f4 IS a few days ago and enjoying it very much.

Hi Bruce Its only necessary to get model releases in Australia for advertising purposes (although some prospective buyers are asking for them for editorial and otherwise). I have a model release on the fisherman as I have entered two of his shots in a competition. He was more than happy to sign and did not want any money - he said that God was good to him and he didn't need any money. Oh that there were more like him! Cheers Sheila

wow.. this gallery really demonstrates the real power photography can have.... amazing job! every photo fires my imagination off - it's as if i've just finished listening to each subject tell me a 30 minute story about what's going on in their life; and now, as I look at the photo, I can't help but contrast their story with mine... thanks again for posting - great stuff...
