Day 2: Exploring Avalon
Did we noticed changes in town? Yes, lets enumerate the most obvious:
  • Holly Hill House being rebuild. Gone is the Avalon-Classic red-white roof on the tower, the trademark of the city. I hope they will restore it to the same appearance!
  • The Mt. Ada Inn (Wrigley Estate) seem to have been repainted in a greenish color, and lost its white, prominent appearance on the hill. Or was it just the light?
  • The Museum in the Casino is different now. Gone is the maritime exhibition, it is now mainly about tourism and Hollywood. An entire room is devoted to Marylin Monroe alone.
Through Linda and CJ suggestion we made a hike uphill to the Zane Grey House, about which I heard so much before, but never visited it by myself. It is magnificent.
