Sravanabelagola is a major pilgrimage place for both the white-clad, and the nudie sky-clad Jains. In February 2006 they are holding a 12-yearly festival there, so at the time I visited the town was hurriedly attempting to refurbish itself. I got a less than warm welcome, and was told that all the hotels were being refurbished, and there was no where in town for me to stay. The man at the accommodation office told me I'd be better off leaving. It had taken me several hours and two bus rides to get there, and the sun was just about to set, and I was reluctant to risk a bus at night. My perseverance paid off, and when I made it obvious that I was not going anywhere, a room was allocated to me.
Some of my photos are now available to buy in a variety of sizes and finishes, or as digital files, at Serenity Photography.
