After the houseboat we were returned to Kollam where we'd been booked on the Kollam-Alleppey Backwater "Cruise", an eight-hour trip on a tourist boat. Fortunately we hadn't yet had enough of the backwaters, and both enjoyed it. The first part of the journey wasn't too attractive, passing through canals with so much rubbish in them that we wondered whether we were in a sewer (the smells did nothing to dissuade us of this!) The second half was much prettier though, especially when a storm blew up...
