This month found us still dealing with the oil gush of BP. Our beaches were closed and most of our fishing, shrimping, crabbing and oyster beds were closed to fishermen. People whose livelihood depended on the water were suffering. The oil moratorium declared by the President put thousands of Louisianians and Texans out of work as well as many in Mississippi and Alabama.
We celebrated the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and thanked God that we are all still alive in our family and everyone still has a job. We also were thankful that no hurricane has come our way this year.
