Rainy Days in Hilo

Recently Hilo and surrounding areas on the Big Island received over 9+ inches of rain in one day.
These pictures taken by my son show some of the effect in downtown Hilo.

Hi-
I'm planning on moving to Hilo next summer. I have lived on Oahu for many years and then moved away.I,m hoping the rain will not be a bummer. Everything thing else seems to be what I am looking for. Exactly how much rain is there? Does the sun ever shine? Would lve to hear your thoughts on this. (Great pictures) Thanks. Sandy
