Short & Sweet

Do you remember the Laurel and Hardy film with the little car?

If Adrienne and I had this model we would look much the same.

Olympus E-20N
1/50s f/2.4 at 9.0mm iso160 PS Sharpen full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

It is a car built in Germany and called SMART. I think it is quiet smart. You will wonder but there is a lot of space in it. It runs with normal petrol and is about 170 km per hour fast. A special version of it is about 220 km/h fast...

I love it. A perfect "city" car. I'm not sure there's enough room for groceries or my telescope, though, so maybe it's a bit impractical. What do they cost? And run on? Electric, gas, both?

WOW, what an interesting car if that is what you call it:)

Incredible ... I've never seen one of these. I can't get over how tiny they are ... seems a little dangerous if you ask me.

The kids love these little things and when they see one when we're out they shout "Smart Attack!!" They were howling last week when they saw one being towed by a camper van! Some of the local businesses are having them painted in their corporate colours and heavily signwritten as mobile advertisments, real 'head turners'.

Very RED!!! They always remind me of a supermarket shopping trolly with an engine? Do they come with reclining seats, though only to be used with the rear hatch open *g* Jayne tells me that not so long ago she saw 40 of them in convoy heading to the coast!! It bring the image in my mind of them all coupled together as per the supermarket trollies!!

They rent these out to tourists in San Francisco (I don't know if it's the same make, but they look like this!) Anyway, it's very funny to watch these tourists driving around with a fold-out map bigger than the car!! Also very dangerous!

When we went to Rome 4 years ago, we saw them everywhere, badly parked, usually covered in scrapes and scratches - but every single person we saw driving them were amazingly gorgeous and glamorous! I almost expected to see them driving and holding an espresso cup at the same time!!

I felt most unsafe in a Reliant three-wheeler which I had a lift in once. Wasn't the Trotters' one though.

They are things you either love or hate - myself I hate them! Wouldn't feel safe on a motorway in one for sure!

No, not being a film fan, but these things are like a modern-day 'bubble-car', aren't they? I don't think you get such things in the 'states - it will be interesting to get the reaction of our friends over there.
