These dogs were running in packs down the streets. I learned from our guide, Leo, that normally it is not like this. But because the day before had been New Year's Day, most of the dogs in town had run away when all the celebration fireworks were going off. Leo said the dogs do this twice a year, on New Year's and Carnivale. After a few days, the dogs either return home, or the owners start looking for them in the local animal shelter.
