Hi All of Sasha’s Friends and Family,
I know I haven’t been in touch with most of you in a while, but I’m sure you’ve been wondering about sasha. Let me begin with Sasha is OK. It was Sasha’s 12th Birthday yesterday (April 17, 2014). Some of you know of sasha from the planning stages before she became home with me.Some of you know sasha from the moment she was born. Some of you met sasha on our 24 thousand mile, 73 day Road Trip across the USA in 2004. Some know sasha from Kevin’s soccer games and practices where she was with me and my camera on the sidelines. Some know sasha from the hundreds of days spent at the dog park with you and your K-9 companions. Some know Sasha from her days in the K-9 swimming pool.. Some of you know sasha from all the fire scenes, accident scenes and other breaking news events that I responded to throughout the greater middlesex county area where she stayed with the car protecting my camera gear.. Some of you know sasha from our adventure in Alaska in 2010-11. And some of you, Just know sasha. In the past couple of years she developed diabetes which required a lot of time regulating her blood sugar with insulin and getting her metabolism under control. I’m happy to say that she went from a high of 120 pounds down to a healthy 60 pounds which she weighed in at yesterday. She couldn’t be in better hands since I’ve had to manage my own diabetes for half my life. Last November she needed bi-lateral cataract eye surgery because she was going blind. She developed laryngeal paralysis after our car crash in Alaska, so she can’t get overheated. She has developed weakness in her hind legs due to myopathy from the diabetes. And most recently (March 29, 2014), she had difficulty bearing weight on one of her front legs and couldn’t stand up. The anti-inflammatory medication will provide her some relief but it takes time. We’ve been our for short walks again. She isn’t in any pain and she’s in great spirits. I however, turned almost all grey in the past three weeks.
So, I thought I’d share some of the photos of sasha’s 12th birthday on my photo gallery.

I’ve also started our Alaska 2010-11 photo gallery but it is on-going and I took a lot of photos through-out Alaska from the Arctic Ocean in the North, to the end of the Alaska pipeline in Valdez to the Kenai Peninsula and Seward in the southwest including my car crash on our return home.
