Drive from Tennessee to Kentucky.
We woke up at 5:45am. We were in Great Smoky Mountain National Park ( http://www.gsmnp.com/ ), Site G20 (Elkmount). It was raining. We left our campsite at 7:30am. There was a small mud slide blocking part of the road as we left and also we came across a car crash that went off the road. We followed Cades Cove Road to “RICH MOUNTAIN ROAD” ( http://www.gsmnp.com/pages/richmtn.html ) an unpaved road clearly marked with a warning sign that leads to US 129. and I took a few pictures along the way. It took about 45 minutes to travel 7 miles. I took a picture of Davy Crockett Riding Stables 505 Old Cades Cove Rd Townsend, TN 37882 as we left Rich Mountain Road. We headed on 321 S towards Townsend, to 333 N towards Maryville, to 129 N into Knoxville, onto 11 to I-84 W to 23 towards Lebanon to 70 W. I stopped along the way to photograph an old fashioned drive-in movie theater. We also stopped at a “Lids” store in the West Town Mall, 7600 Kingston Pike Knoxville, TN 37919 to pick up a cap that david ordered before we left home and to pick up a package sent from home with our power cable, that we forgot, for the laptop. A special THANK-YOU to TROY the Lids store manager. I took a picture of the HARD ROCK CAFÉ in Nashville as we passed through town and then the “Welcome to Kentucky” sign. We planned to stay in Mammoth Cave NP but it was full. We took a picture of the entrance to the park and then tried to find somewhere else to stay. After traveling 426.7 miles, we quite by accident found THE NARROWS RECREATION AREA, Barren River Lake (( http://corpslakes.usace.army.mil/visitors/projects.cfm?Id=H200970 ). Site #B50 was available so we set up camp. It was as though someone was looking over our shoulder guiding us to this campground!
