LADDERS & SHADOWS

Yet another wet & windy day, but with occasional brief bursts of sunshine. I decided I wanted a nice sunny shot for today, so whenever the sun came out I would grab a shot, if I was between bouts of work. Sod's law being what it is, the sun flared out when I was working and hid when I was driving. Until, that is, it finally showed it's face when I could grab a shot. Sod's law, however, hadn't finished with me, the only thing around was this factory which didn't have a very sunny disposition.

I took a couple of shots anyway and picked this one as my PaD, it originally showed four platforms but I thought it looked too 'busy' and gave a very narrow format image. I cropped it back to just two platforms, to increase the emphasis on the shadows and metalwork, then punched up the contrast and added some noise to give a grainy image roughly equivalent to shooting on HP5.

So, I present a dark and grainy, B&W, sunny photograph !!

Maybe I should have taken a shot of the stir fry I made for my dinner :-)

I'm not sure if I like it or not, so I am very interested in all comments, good or bad, to see what others think. Thanks.

The graininess adds to the overall feel of this - great repeating doors and stairs.. seems like they must go on forever.. nice contrast as well

I love grainy B&W shots so this works for me!

Reminds me of Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti album cover. I like it.
