PICKETS IN THE SAND - 2

AINSDALE BEACH

Regular viewers of my PaD images may have a sense of deja vu today, this shot being a modified version of the one I posted yesterday.

Yesterday, a couple of viewers suggested that they would like to see this shot with the buildings removed, whilst a couple more said that they liked the houses (click 'previous' to see the original image posted). In an effort to try and please everyone, I decided that todays PaD challenge would be to rework this shot, rather than shoot a new image. This decision having nothing at all to do with the wet, windy & cold weather today (honest!).

I reworked the shot by simply cloning the buildings out, lowering the sky and raising the level of the sand dune slightly. I also took the opportunity to boost the saturation slightly, and darken part of the sky, to compensate for the loss of the buildings as a point of interest and colour.

So, who is now FOR or AGAINST the buildings ? I must admit I prefer the shot without them, now that I've tried it, although I didn't think I would.

Please leave a comment to let me know which you prefer. Thanks.

I like both images, but I prefer the houses in the background. I like the extra touch of colour. Great work in PS!

Very good

Both are great shots (agree that the punch of red with the houses is nice) but I think I prefer without. Your work with PS is seamless. Would have never known there were houses there before!

I loke both; and I always like to mess around and make a new photo from an old photo....hmmmm...

I like both. This is evocative and makes me want to go visit the dunes. The other is more of a social statement and makes me regret that developers have to put up buildings in such beautiful places.

Initially I thought I preferred it with but now I'm not sure. They're both good in their own right. You did a good job in PS though, very impressive!

You did an excellent job. I loved it with the buildings because of the punch of the red. I like it withough because of its lonely, windswept look.

Without, as in this set of compositions, the houses distract from the main focal point. You did a great job on the PS work.

I prefer it without the houses.. The crop is excellent, Graham.
Wow.. that scared me. I read "Just Me"'s comment and I only saw the "j" and "m" and thought it was.. me. I thought.. "I didn't post that!"
Well, no... I didn't, did i?"... omg.. i'm a dork

Oh yes, this is GREAT! Leaves the viewer with a sense of longing as the meander along the beaches in life... Very well done on the editing!!!
