This gallery is a dumping hodge podge of miscellaneous pics that do not belong to any particular story line. This particular gallery is not meant to be viewed as a "gallery". Neither is this entire PBase site meant to be viewed directly. If you do, the galleries may make no sense at all :-( The pics and galleries are usually referred to from my primary website, in proper context, see below. That way all will make sense, if you simply click on galleries here, you may conclude it's all a jumbled-up mess! You have been warned :-)
The first few photos in this particular gallery were taken by a Canon EOS D30 and a Celestron Ultima 2000-8" telescope configured for eyepiece projection (Nagler 7mm), yielding a focal length of 24000mm at f/120. Saturn image is a combo of two, trying to extend the visibility of the Cassini Division. The third photo is a full D30 frame, more or less showing what Saturn looks like as you look through the viewfinder. The fourth is an animation of photos taken every half hour between 2130 and 2400 on 4th February 2002. The "frames" are at each half hour, and each frame is made up of 4 images that have been composited into one, shrunk down and then sharpened. The Moon close-ups were at f/20 using an SBIG 237 astro CCD, not the D30. Each is a multi-image combo. The full Moon was taken at f/6.3 in a D30, 1250mm focal length. The 6x Saturn image was taken by a Philips ToUcam webcam to see if there are perceptible differences between shooting at f23 and at f50.
