Looking Back to PaD Fest 2005 – Day 2

Great Sand Dunes NP

As mentioned Friday, I'm doing a retrospective all this week. All shots are from last year, however I am freshly processing them from the original files.

Breland at the Great Sand Dunes National Park.

Breland and Gayle were with us for only three days so I rode with them. Day 2 consisted of a major stop at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, and then a drive across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the San Dunes National Park. We were beset with clouds and rain all day.

There was a touch of keystone cops that day. I had given poor instructions at the GOG and we all got separated. It took a couple of hours to reconnect after chasing all over trying to find each other! Then while Di and Wynn drove to the Sand Dunes via the Interstate, I dragged Gayle and Bre across an unnamed mountain pass south of Westcliffe on a dirt road crossing the Sangres in a rainstorm. After some anxiety we finally got to the San Dunes to rejoin Di and Bandito.

We all survived, and I was able to dry out my new cell phone that Di had accidentally dropped in a river, and we were able to safely spend our first night on the road in Alamosa.

This is my slideshow of the day.
