As mentioned yesterday, I'm doing a retrospective all this week. All shots are from last year, however I am freshly processing them from the original files.
Our first day was at the Henderson Molybdenum mine where Danny Barton served as our guide and host. The mine entrance is above 10,000 feet, however this shot was taken almost a mile down inside a working drift. It was quite a day getting the inside scoop (pun intended) on the mine and how it works.
I met Danny on PaD nearly a year earlier. Apparently I was the first commenter on his first PaD shot.
Danny served in the Marine Corps, he has been a hard rock miner for 25 years, has tattoos, owns two Harleys, and has a conservative political bent. All that said, I think he a huge teddy bear and I like him and admire him very much. I would trust him with my life.
Because of work Danny couldn’t go with us on the tour of Colorado. So this was his big day, and we all loved it.
This is a short slideshow of a few other shots from the mine tour.
Below on the left is a picture of me “bonding” with the “Kid” earlier that July. On the right is a shot of his “baby sister,” Di. She was the main creator and planner for the entire PaD Fest experience. She was an enthusiastic camera fan moving from newbie to pro over the time we were together. If you don’t believe me, ask her about histograms and “going low.”
