You may recall that I am historian by training, and my focus area has been recent US history with a special interest in World War II. One little piece of that has been some study about the Manhattan Project which was the development of the first atomic bomb at Los Alamos, NM.
Today my hostess (and sister-in-law) Rennie Finley and I toured a couple of museums in Los Alamos which is about hour northwest of Santa Fe. I found the Bradbury Science Museum to be both educational and disturbing. The development of the bomb and as well as the history of the town are covered well. There is also a focus on post-war deterrence, scientific development, and non-proliferation testing.
This is a picture of me with a statue of General Leslie Groves who was the Corp of Engineers project officer.
