October 14: Instant Nostalgia

Memory Lane

I’ve spent most of the day processing a slew of images from last month’s trip to the Northwest for my Niece’s wedding. I’m creating 8 x 10 inch (300 dpi) files of each picture of the event and all the associated travel that we took to get there and back. Tomorrow I’ll load them onto CDs and mail them to various family members.
While one can’t rewind life like a video tape, the intensity of reviewing the pictures take my mind and heart back, and it is almost like I’m sitting by the Oregon seashore as I recall, reflect, and work.

Very good work with PS. You make it sound easy. Nice "view" too. Imagine having one like that.

Nice view! I'm just back too... :-(

Robin, I know exactly what you mean. There is something about looking at photos that always makes me wax nostalgic even if it is just from the past week! I make a lot of slideshows from my photos and I am wondering if you are going to do that with all your wedding and conference photos?

Photoshop Nostalgy is nice, but I think a real trip to the place is more enjoyable, Robin.
But such reworks are funny as well. This one is well done btw.

I just read your description of how you created this - I'm impressed! I had first thought that you had found a picnic table with an incredible view. Very convincing. Must be hard to smile when the Yankees are winning. ;)

Excellent work. Next time, however, smile a little more! wink, wink...

Really nice Robin. Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you, and I can tell it is a labor of love. Not only did you have a great wedding/trip, you've capture memories for family members for generations. Congratulations.

Sitting at home on the balcony while reviewing your holiday trip, what a nice relaxing thing to do. Where is the glass of wine? LOL

Gayle I have a Wacom tablet, but I didn't use it. I duplicated the base layer of the pix of me - which was aainst a white wall), then used threshold to increase contrast between the white wall and the rest of me. I created a layer mask (with magic wand believe it or not) using the contasted image but applied the selection to another dupelicate of the base layer. That way I was able to extract my pix and clean up a few edges with eraser etc. Took about 5 minutes!

Those photos will be so appreciated, Robin. What a great thing to do.

Super job of the background. Which drawing pad is it that you use??????? I've been looking at them and can't decide which to get. The price varies so much from model to model.

Beautiful. That really is a great job of lighting, too.

Yes Anne, I trimmed yours truly away from a white background and added the Oregon coast image taken last month as a background.
Anne Young14-Oct-2004 22:26
Is the background on this shot a digital background, or is that real??? If you added it in post processing, it is REALLY good!
Cliff14-Oct-2004 22:23
It's a ton of work to edit a slew digital images. "Almost" makes one yearn for the old days of dropping the rolls off for processing and then, you get what you get! :o) Nice SP Robin and hats off to you for doing all this for people!
